BRIEF: Decatur foreclosures down

May 27--Decatur foreclosure rates in March were down from the previous year and below both state and national rates, according to a survey released today by CoreLogic.

Decatur-area foreclosures in March were 0.8 percent on outstanding mortgages, down 0.5 percentage points from March 2013.

The March foreclosure rate in Alabama was 0.95 percent, down from 1.35 percent in March 2013. Nationwide, the rate was 1.86 percent, down from a year-ago rate of 2.85 percent.

March mortgage-delinquency rates also were down in Decatur, with 3.96 percent of mortgages 90 or more days past due. The delinquency rate in March 2013 was 4.13 percent.

Decatur's delinquency rate compared favorably to the state's rate of 4.82 percent and the national rate of 4.66 percent.
