China Mobile Suspends 2G Investments

BEIJING, May 26, SinoCast -- China Mobile has released surprising news to suspend 2G investments, which signals aging of 2G networks and update of 4G networks. Although the company has not worked out specific timetable to suspend 2G service, it definitely hoped that 750 million 2G users can be updated to 3G or 4G as soon as possible.

The news is released at a shareholder meeting held last week, when China Mobile board chairman pointed out that it is necessary to enlarge capital expenditure, because the company need equipment for long-term 4G development. Hence, investment will be utilized reasonably and 2G investments have been suspended.
