Taiwan Province of China : TAIWAN MOBILE CO. launches new range of own-branded mobile devices

The country's second largest mobile provider, Taiwan Mobile Co., has launched the new range of its own-branded mobile devices serving price-sensitive subscribers to Taiwan's forthcoming 4G LTE network.

Made by Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE Corp., the two 4G-enabled smartphones and a tablet in the Amazing series, will start from NT$4,990 (US$166) and can be availed next month.

The company also released a 5.5-inch, octa-core 3G smartphone which costs just NT$4,990 and is aimed at budget customers who plan to shift from 2G to 3G network. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. has assembled the device.

Senior vice president of Taiwan Mobile, Jeff Ku, said own-branded mobile phones comprised 30 percent of the carrier's total phone sales in the first four months of this year, up from about 20 percent in 2013.
