Investment Minister Discusses Establishment of Biggest Sugar Production Complex in Minya

Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment Mounir Fakhri Abdel-Nour on Thursday 22/05/2014 discussed with Governor of Minya Salah Zeyadeh the latest developments regarding the establishment of a new industrial complex project for the production of sugar, set to be established by the UAE'sAl-Ghurair Group in the Upper Egyptian province.

The project for the production of sugar beet, is designed to be built on an area of 150,000 feddans with initial investment costs estimated at EGP 6 billion.

The complex's production capacity is expected to reach 400,000 tons which would be a great step for achieving self-sufficiency in the production of sugar in Egypt, as it would meet one third of the country's total needs of the strategic commodity.
