May 23, 2014

TELUS is investing $12 million in the Ottawa-Gatineau region this year to expand the reach of the world s fastest wireless technology 4G LTE; further enhance critical fibre optic communications links to business customers; and offer innovative healthcare IT solutions.

Residents, businesses and healthcare providers within the Ottawa-Gatineau region have a great desire for the latest in wireless services and healthcare applications. TELUS$12 million investment will help meet this demand by providing the infrastructure necessary to keep residents and businesses connected, said Ted Woodhead, senior vice-president of TELUS Federal Government and Regulatory Affairs. TELUS significant investment in this region builds on our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with the world s most advanced communications technology and wireless networks.

TELUS significant investment in the Ottawa-Gatineau region will benefit local residents and businesses by: Expanding the reach of LTE; Providing access to innovative healthcare IT solutions; Improving communications services for local businesses to help advance their operations locally and globally.

This significant investment in the Ottawa-Gatineau region is part of TELUS$1.1 billion investment commitment in Ontario through 2016. By the end of 2016, TELUS investment in operations and infrastructure across the province since 2000 will exceed $36 billion. Also, since 2000 TELUS has paid income, payroll, property and other taxes totalling more than $1.65 billion to provincial and municipal governments in Ontario, helping to support services in communities across the province.

TELUS investment in communities extends beyond providing customers with world-class technology. As members of every community they serve, TELUS, their team members and retirees give where they live, supporting grassroots community organizations across Ontario.

Across the province, our TELUS family truly sees themselves as members of each community where we operate, and we believe our investment in local organizations is just as important as our investment in technology, continued Woodhead. Our philosophy, We Give Where We Live, is exemplified by our TELUS family of team members and retirees donating more than $12.5 million and over 45,000 volunteer hours to charitable and community organizations throughout the Ottawa-Gatineau region since 2000. Recently we ve contributed to numerous local organizations including Operation Come Home, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa and the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health.
