May 23--Make plans to be in downtown Bloomington on Sunday afternoon, June 1, to check out a variety of vintage cars that will be on display during the Monroe County History Center's Classic Car & Hot Rod Show.

One featured vehicle will be of particular local interest to old car enthusiasts. The Mathers Museum is loaning its Howe car, the first factory-made car in Bloomington, which was owned by Joshua Howe. The museum is loaning the home-built car that was reportedly made in 1884. The car will be on display at the history center until January as part of its Auto Indiana exhibit, currently open.

The June 1 car show will be from noon to 4 p.m. on the history center grounds at the corner of Sixth and Washington streets. There is no admission charge, and the public is invited. The car show will feature a wide variety of historic cars owned by local collectors. There will be music and also vendors selling food and beverages.
