"We'll do some of the hits, of course, some of the things that everybody wants to hear ... but hopefully there'll be something everybody likes," he said while on a short break at his home. "We'll also do four, five, maybe six songs off the new album coming out in September."
"I've got a great band," McGraw said while talking about his tour,
McGraw was last in
"I remember driving through town and ran right by your newspaper -- on the way in and on the way back," he said. "It was a beautiful night if I remember right."
"I love it up there. I don't get to go very often [but] it's just a beautiful area. I love the people up there and they love country music. I think that there's a lot of relatable communities just [like] where I grew up -- same sort of values and same ethics."
When it comes to who he's watching as the next up-and-coming country stars, McGraw said he's excited about what the future holds for his openers --
"I think country music is in great hands," he said.
And although McGraw said he's been fortunate to perform with most of his living musical idols, there's one that comes to mind when he thinks about who he still would like a chance to share the stage with.
Over the years, there aren't many questions that McGraw said he hasn't been asked, but his favorite topic is always his children.
"I guess in the last few years, my life is centered so much around my kids and watching them grow up and going through the realization that my oldest daughter will be a senior next year ... It's sort of sad, exciting for her, but not long before she's going to be out of the house and then right behind that's my next daughter, who will be a junior next year."
Balancing tours, scheduled appearances and family life isn't easy, but McGraw gives all the credit to his wife, Grammy Award-winning singer
"She's the master of it all. She's so organized," he said. "She balances my schedule, her schedule, all three daughters' schedules and their social life. Their social life is way busier than our social life. She's got it down and I just defer to her."
