May 21, 2014

Mustapha Suleiman

The on-going rehabilitation of Mokwa-Bida road will be completed next year Minister of State for Works Ambassador Bashir Yuguda has said.

The minister gave the assurance yesterday while inspecting the 121.5 kilometres road awarded to Triacta Nigeria Ltd at the cost of N10.9 billion.

He said, "It is a World Bank project, midwifed by the Federal Ministry of Works. World Bank is contributing some money and the Federal Government is contributing part of the money through the Works ministry."

The minister said with adequate funding of the project, the contractor would be able to meet up the deadline, despite the rains. The project was awarded in November 2013, for a 24 month contract to end in November 2015.

The road which was first constructed some 30 years ago failed and remained a nightmare in recent years until it was awarded by the federal government.
