Resona to open representative office in Vietnam by Oct.

May 20, 2014

Resona Holdings Inc. plans to open a representative office in Vietnam by October partly to help small and medium-sized Japanese companies enter overseas markets, President Kazuhiro Higashi said in a recent interview.

The office in Ho Chi Minh City will be the fifth overseas representative office for the banking group after Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.

The banking group also plans to form business alliances with local banks in Myanmar and Cambodia by March 2015, he said.

Resona does not engage in international banking operations and currently has no plan to open an overseas branch for such operations.

Instead, it is seeking to increase the number of overseas representative offices to provide advice to Japanese companies on overseas business.
