BRIEF: Van Buren Plans Phone Photo Challenge

May 02--The Center for Art and Education will host "Van Buren on Camera," a phone camera photography challenge, this weekend. A Kick-off and Map Drawing will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday at 504 Main St. in Van Buren.

Artists will photograph Van Buren during a 24-hour time period from 9 a.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday. All phone camera photographers can participate in the map drawing Saturday.

Three sections of Van Buren -- Historic Van Buren District, Drennen Scott House and Fairview Cemetery -- will be divided among phone photographers who register during Saturday's Kick-off. All subjects will be in the spotlight. All "photo-based" artwork mediums and techniques may be submitted.

First-, second- and third-place recognition will be given in the phone camera category. A People's Choice award will also be given along with other prizes. Email photo submissions by June 30th to info@art-ed.org.

An opening reception is set from 5-7 p.m.Aug. 8, with the photo exhibit on display through Aug. 26.
