BT to create positions for engineering

May 19, 2014

Communications giant BT is to create 1,600 engineering jobs.

The firm's Openreach business said it expected a significant number of the new jobs to be filled by ex-servicemen and women.

Openreach chief executive Joe Garner said: "Our engineers do an incredible job.

"They have been rolling out fibre broadband faster than anywhere else in the world. These new recruits will be a welcome boost to that effort, joining an already world-class team."

Prime Minister David Cameron said: "I am delighted that BT is launching this major recruitment drive for 1,600 engineers across the UK,."

Openreach has recruited more than 1,600 former servicemen and women over the past three years.
