Marriott International Leverages Cloud-based Micros Simphony Enterprise Solution

May 16, 2014

Micros Systems, Inc., a provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, announced that Marriott International, Inc. has expanded its partnership with Micros by selecting the cloud-based Micros Simphony Enterprise Solution for its food and beverage operations for its Marriott brands in the United States and Canada.

In a release, Micros Systems said the Micros Simphony Enterprise Solution will be hosted in a Micros Data Center. The deployment, which includes Micros workstations and mobile devices, will substantially conclude by the end of 2014.

Micros Simphony is a scalable enterprise point-of-sale system, which allows "quick" deployment to thousands of Micros devices across all Marriott U.S. and Canada properties. Once deployment is complete, Marriott International will be able to centrally manage the entire system from within a single application ensuring menu item standardization, reducing redundancy, and maintaining configuration consistency. By moving the solution above property, Marriott shrinks the overall IT footprint required at each location.

"Micros Simphony provides Marriott a superior Point-of-Sale that elevates the guest experience throughout our brand," said Kermit Littlefield, Vice President of Global Operations for Marriott International.

"We are pleased to announce another major milestone in our long- term partnership with Marriott International, as we together bring innovative solutions to the Marriott family of hotels," said Jason Blair, Vice President of Strategic Accounts of Micros Systems.

Marriott International is a lodging company based in Bethesda, Md., with more than 3,900 properties more than 70 countries and territories as of quarter-end and reported revenues of nearly $13 billion in fiscal year 2013.

The company operates and franchises hotels under 15 brands, including Marriott Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott, Bulgari, Edition, Renaissance, Gaylord Hotels, Autograph Collection, AC Hotels by Marriott, Courtyard, Fairfield Inn & Suites, SpringHill Suites, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Marriott Executive Apartments; licenses vacation ownership resorts under the Marriott Vacation Club, Grand Residences by Marriott and Ritz-Carlton Club brands; and licenses and manages residential properties under several of its brands.
