May 15, 2014

Mexico City, May 15 (EFE).- Mexican media giant Televisa announced the start of shooting on a television series inspired by Mario Vargas Llosa's "La Fiesta del Chivo," a novel about Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo (1891-1961).

The international cast is led by Mexico'sJulio Bracho as Trujillo and also features "El Mariachi" star Ivan Arana along with Colombia'sEileen Moreno and Diana Hoyos.

"El Chivo" is a joint project of Televisa television and Colombian production company RTI.

The series is being shot at various locations on Colombia's Atlantic coast with the same crew that produced "La Viuda Negra," starring Ana Serradilla as Colombian drug trafficker Griselda Blanco, Televisa said.

Published in 2000, Vargas Llosa's account of the Dominican Republic under Trujillo's brutal rule was brought to the big screen several years ago by the author's cousin, Peruvian filmmaker Luis Llosa. EFE
