May 15--The Dakota County Community Development Agency is offering financing help for first-time homebuyers this spring.

The assistance available includes access to low-interest fixed mortgages, up to $10,000 in zero-interest down payment and closing cost loans, and a mortgage credit certificate that provides a federal income tax credit for some of the interest paid on the loan.

First-time homebuyers or households that haven't owned a home in the past three years are eligible. Assistance is available on single-family homes, townhomes or condominiums with a purchase price of up to $276,870.

Income limits for assistance are $83,900 for one- or two-person households, or $96,485 for households of three or more.

Buyers who use the program must complete a home buyer education course. For more information, call 651-675-4442 or visit dakotacda.org.
