Reaction to the Bank of Englands latest Inflation Report

May 14, 2014

Mike Franklin, Chief Investment Strategist at Beaufort Securities said, "The Bank of England Governor shows an understandable reluctance to raise interest rates despite the pressures mounting on him from the growing evidence of a strong economic recovery and the attendant concerns about inflation rising."

Mike concluded "Carney is concerned that there should be enough slack in the economy to cope with keeping interest rates low while he is also reliant on employment data which can be distorted by the inclusion of types of employment contract currently prevalent which do not necessarily result in strong gains in disposable income as economic activity picks up."
