US Dollar Slides Against Yen

May 13, 2014

TOKYO (Alliance News) - The US dollar given up early gains against the Japanese yen in early New York deals on Tuesday following data showing slow US retail sales growth in April.

The Commerce Department report showed that retail sales edged up by 0.1% in April following an upwardly revised 1.5% jump in March.

Economists had expected sales to rise by about 0.4%.

The greenback weakened to 102.06 against the yen, down by 0.3% from an early multi-day high of 102.37. The greenback may find support around the 101.6 mark.
