Uzbek Reconstruction and Development Fund allocates $150 mln to Uzbekenergo for modernization of Navoi TPP

The Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan allocated a $150-million loan to the state-owned energy company Uzbekenergo for modernization of Navoi thermal power plant, Novy Vek edition said.

The loan was provided for 15 years, including a 3-year grace period. It is aimed to purchase new equipment. Modernization also involves construction of a second combined-cycle gas turbine unit and a gas booster station.

The project worth $547.2 million dollars will be also financed by a loan of the Japan International Development Agency (JICA) in the amount of $360 million.

The Navoi TPP was commissioned in October 2012 by Calik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (Turkey) and Initec (Spain). Annual electricity production is 7.9 billion kWh.
