BRIEF: Landmark Community Bank reports surge in 1Q income

May 12--Landmark Community Bank of Collierville said quarterly operating income surged about 50 percent despite the costs of expanding at Nashville.

Landmark reported income from operations this year through March of $1.4 million, or 8 cents per share, compared to $938,000, or 7 cents per share, in the same period last year.

The bank, which focuses on small business and mortgage loans, now has six branches including in Nashville and nearby Brentwood and Franklin. "We now have a presence in two new and exciting markets," Landmark chairman James P. Farrell said in a statement released by the bank.
