NAELA Celebrates National Elder Law Month in May

May 1, 2014

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) May 01, 2014

The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) established May as National Elder Law Month as a way to educate older Americans and their families on powers of attorney, elder financial exploitation, living trusts, Medicare, long-term care insurance, and other important issues.

Many NAELA members will be out in their communities in May:

Conducting a Living Will/Health Care Proxy Day;

Presenting a seminar at the local senior or community center;

Providing pro bono services; or

Lecturing at a law school.

"Elder Law attorneys receive calls and emails from the general public with questions about long-term care planning, estate planning, disability planning, Social Security forms, wills, trusts, advance directives, and other related documents and planning issues on a daily basis. National Elder Law Month is an opportunity for NAELA members to meet face-to-face with their neighbors in the community to answer these questions," said NAELA President Howard S. Krooks, CELA, CAP.
