PerceptiMed Appoints Samir Majumdar, Ph.D. as VP of Software Engineering and Development

Medical technology company PerceptiMed, Inc. has hired Samir Majumdar, Ph.D. as vice president software engineering and development.

In a release, the Company said that this appointment adds depth to the company's experience in digital image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition - technologies that are key to its product offerings. In his new position, Majumdar oversees product development and quality assurance, reporting to CEO Alan Jacobs, M.D., Ph.D.

PerceptiMed said that Majumdar brings almost 20 years of experience working in engineering and engineering management within both startup and Fortune 500 companies. Since 2000, Majumdar has worked at Ingenuity Systems (acquired by QIAGEN, April 2013), where he advanced through the engineering ranks, most recently serving as vice president of engineering. Majumdar was responsible for global teams, driving strategy and execution, innovation and accelerated product development.

"I am passionate about improving the quality of healthcare and patient safety," said Majumdar. "I am excited about the opportunity to help shape the next phase of growth at PerceptiMed, where the number one focus is on developing cutting-edge technology designed to eliminate the margin of human error in medication dispensing and administration."

Samir's passion for patient safety perfectly dovetails with our mission. We will benefit greatly from his strong management skills and breadth of technical knowledge as we move forward with our new product introductions."

Prior to joining Ingenuity, Majumdar worked in various engineering positions at Varian Medical Systems, Cerner Corp. and the University of Manitoba at Winnipeg, Canada.
