April 27--Two bands that have performed at the Brown County Fair will return to Aberdeen for the inaugural Frosty's Summer BashJune 28-29.
The headliners will be Love and Theft and Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike.
Love and Theft, a country music duo, opened for Jake Owen at the Brown County Fair in 2010. The pair hit No. 1 in 2011 with "Angel Eyes" and the top 10 in 2009 with "Runaway." Musicians Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson had another bandmate until 2011, when Brian Bandas left the band.
Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike opened for Chris Cagle at the 2004 Brown County Fair.
Frosty's Summer Bash is a fundraiser for the 68-year-old South Dakota Snow Queen Festival and its scholarship program. The music will be presented on the east side of Centennial Village.
"We couldn't be more excited about bringing Stephen and Eric in to help us launch this annual festival of food, fun and fundraising," Georgia Smith, who spearheads the Bash, said in a press release.
The other music acts will include Thrillbilly, Darren Geffre and Ron Parker and Soul Drive.
In addition to two days of music acts, Frosty's Summer Bash will feature a tailgate cook-off, games, activities and special events for children.
"We believe Frosty's Summer Bash has something for people of all ages -- a quality event that will allow people to enjoy a fun summer weekend while supporting a great cause," Smith said in the news release.
Last summer, the South Dakota Snow Queen Festival presented a smaller event called Frosty Fest.

Tickets are not yet available. The cost will be $30 for a two-day ticket or $20 for a one-day ticket. A wristband for children's inflatables is $5.
