April 26, 2014

Qatar declared that it has promised to support Kenya in establishing a financial centre. The financial centre will help to establish its position as a financial hub in the East African region.

Qatari Finance Minister Ali Al-Emadi has attended a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta in Doha. He stated that a financial centre in Kenya would stimulate economic growth by providing business with access to funding. The Qatari Finance Minister commented This will unlock Kenya s potential as an investment destination and we are ready to work with Kenya in achieving that goal.

President Kenyatta commented the move will help to provide the resources necessary for Kenya s economic take off. Qatar s encouragement would ensure Kenya remained a financial leader in the region.

The Government of Kenya has also developed a strong framework for Public Private Partnerships, which safeguards investment and reduces risks across the sectors of our economy, the President commented.
