City Commercial Banks NPL Ratio to 0.94% by Q1-end

BEIJING, April 25, SinoCast -- Outstanding non-performing loans of city commercial banks in China totaled CNY 61.921 billion by the end of the first quarter of 2014, and NPL ratio hit 0.94%, compared with 0.88% at the end of the fourth quarter of 2013, according to China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC).

CBRC Chairman Shang Fulin stressed at the annual conference of city commercial banks for 2014 that city commercial banks should comprehensively strengthen the risk management mechanism and strictly adhere to the bottom line of no occurrence of systematic and regional risks. They also should enhance the sensitivity of risk response, maintain a high level of risk vigilance and sensitivity combining with changes in the external environment and banks' banking business characteristics and prepare well for dealing with emergencies.
