Sindh imposes ban on inter-district movement of wheat

Home Department Sindh has imposed a ban on inter-district movement of wheat outside the limits of district except that the supply of wheat to the flour mills in Karachi under section 144.

According to details, ban has been imposed on inter-district movement of wheat except Karachi while Larkana, Qambar Shadadkot and Jamshoro districts are designated for purchase of wheat by the flour mills of Karachi at the rate of Rs 1250 per 40 kg. To maintain the transparency in this regard, two check posts have been established at Dharma Qamber/Shadadkot district which will cover District Larkana and Qambar Shadadkot. Similarly the Sehwan check post will cover Dadu and Jamshoro Districts. According to notification, the authorized officers will issue permits to the vehicles carrying wheat from above districts on production of copies of Food-grain license with original stamp of roller flour mill original letter of wheat broker and original guilty of the consignment.

The Assistant Director Food Larkana and Vigilance Officer, Deputy Secretary Food Government of Sindh are the authorized officers respectively while the truck drivers are bound to produce all documents mentioned as above at Kathore check post Karachi for entry and checking purpose. Proper record should be maintained by the office of Deputy Director Food Karachi. Beside this daily wheat share of each flour mill is fixed as 600 wheat bags. The wheat stocks being transported by any flour mills beyond their daily due share will be seized on government account without any notice.

In a statement issued here, Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that inter-district ban on movement of wheat will be in benefit of the growers and there will be no shortage of wheat in Karachi as well.
