BRIEF: Stock market closes higher

Feb. 06--BUCHAREST -- The shares listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) were up 0.20 percent on average on Thursday, in an evolution tracked by the BET-C composite index, while the BET-FI index, which reflects the evolution of the shares of the five financial investment companies (SIFs) closed 3.42 higher.

Trade on the BVB main market amounted to roughly 8.33 million euros; shares issued by 53 companies were traded, 28 of which scored gains and 18 slumped.

The top liquid issuers were Fondul Proprietatea with 8.04 million lei and the SIFs: SIF3 Transilvania -- 4.86 million lei, SIF5 Oltenia -- 3.93 million lei, SIF1 Banat Crisana -- 3.19 million lei and SIF2 Moldova -- 2.36 million lei.

The BET index that reflects the evolution of the ten most liquid listed issuers inched up 0.40 percent, the extended blue-chip index of the top 25 liquid companies -- the BET-XT -- surged 1.27 percent and the sectoral energy and related utilities index BET-NG edged up 0.36 percent.

The BET-BK return benchmark index for stock investment funds closed 1.90 percent higher.
