and laser applications at the Photonics West Exhibition, February
4-6, 2014 at The Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. The
company will showcase optical products made from sapphire including
blanks, domes, tubes and rods in Booth #904.
Sapphire is a desirable material for high-performance applications due
to its hardness and strength, transparency in the visible and IR
spectrum, thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, abrasion
resistance, high melting point and chemical inertness. As a result, it
is ideally suited for extreme environments in a range of industries

Defense & Aerospace -- Sapphire is used in the defense and aerospace
