BRIEF: Auburn's 'Special K' industrial announcement set Wednesday

Feb. 04 --A groundbreaking ceremony for a new automotive supplier in Auburn is scheduled for Wednesday, according to city and state officials. Governor Robert Bentley will attend the announcement and help break ground on a new $12 million , 60,000-square-foot facility in the Auburn Technology Park West . According to the governor's office, the company is expected to create 160 jobs. City officials have discussed and worked on the project, known as Special K, for several months. In November, the Auburn council approved an incentives package utilizing funds from the revolving loan fund or the Industrial Development Board's own resources to locate the company in lot seven of the technology park. The resolution approving the package also stipulated the Industrial Development Board's design/build and construction/financing program would be utilized for the facility. Wednesday's groundbreaking ceremony will take place at Technology Park West at the corner of Innovation Drive and Paul Parks Lane at 3:30 p.m. ___ (c)2014 the Opelika-Auburn News (Opelika, Ala.)
