New city center near Banjul in 18 months

The Gambian government through Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC), has signed a multi-million dollar project for the construction of a "modern city" at Brusubi, outside Banjul.Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, the contractor Dimitris Sophocleous, said the city will be built in three phases and will compose of three categories.

The city will have a modern environment with spacious houses, asphalted roads and sidewalks for pedestrians.

The project will employ 600 persons and that the construction will be completed in one year six months.

"This phase constitutes 400 houses with 110 apartment, the remaining phases follow soon after", he explained.
