Crude oil prices down slightly

February 28, 2014

Crude oil prices in New York were little-changed early Friday, having lost 6 cents to $102.23 per barrel a day after some disappointing economic news.

Among the negative economic reports: Durable goods orders fell 1.5 percent from December to January and the Labor Department reported a significant rise of 14,000 first-time claims for unemployment benefits.

Natural gas was unchanged at $4.48 per million British thermal units.

Reformulated blendstock gasoline prices dropped 0.96 cents to hit $2.751 per gallon.

Heating oil prices shed 0.55 cents to $3.081 per gallon.

At the pump, the national average price for a gallon of unleaded rose from Thursday's $3.436 per gallon to $3.448, the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report said.
