As of Thursday morning, Zacek said, there were no reported account breaches, but a significant amount of customers and non-customers were targeted.
"Please be positive that the bank would never ask for account information in the form of text or phone call," he said. "Please don't give out that information.
"We already have access to that info on our side."
Officials in the Crossroads began receiving complaints about the scam Tuesday in
Zacek said he doesn't have an exact number of people affected by the scam but encourages customers to contact the bank and close their accounts if there are any worries that their account information was compromised.
"To opt on the side of caution, let us kill that card," he said.
Customers can reach the bank during regular business hours at 800-531-1401 or after hours at 800-684-2132.
