He said that strong capability of research in economic areas can generate more opportunities for development and production of the country.
Ahsan said that government's top priority is to overcome energy crisis in the country and the government also focusing to utilize nuclear energy to shortened the duration of loadshedding. Previous two regimes failed to introduce any new policy to overcome energy crisis, he added.
He said that Coastal power plant would add 2200 MW additional electricity in our National power sector which has already been inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
He also stressed Scholars and Scientist to devote their energy and talent in that area which will have maximum impact to achieve millennium development goals.
We must look for opportunities that how can we contribute in research towards development of society, he said and added that as we are entered in knowledge revolutionary era in which knowledge and technology is going to be a basic need.

He said that thousands of PIEAS graduates have been making outstanding contributions to national development projects with recognition of their excellent performance and sixty seven graduates have already been conferred with national civil awards of Hilal-i-Imtiaz, President Medal for Pride of Performance and Tamgha-Imtiaz are serving

PIEAS has 136 highly qualified full time faculty members in diverse fields of Physical Sciences, Engineering and medicine and eighty two of them have PhD degree from the reputed foreign institutions, he added.
PIEAS faculty is pursuing research and development work in different fields including nano-technology, robotics, image processing, bio-photonics, quantum optics, computational fluid dynamics, combustion engineering, atmosphere modelling, advance polymers and modelling and simulation. Currently PIEAS is graduating fifteen to twenty PhD scholars per year, he said.
He also congratulating the graduates and urged them to follow their illustrious predecessors for profound dedication to their job and achievement of excellence in their professional career.
