Telekom Austria's Macedonian arm 2013 operating profit jumps to EUR 6.3mn

The Macedonian arm of Telekom Austria posted a EUR 6.3mn operating income last year, significantly above the slim profit of just EUR 400,000 reported for 2012, the parent company said in a statement.

The Macedonian unit Vip, also saw its EBITDA (incl. effects from restructuring and impairment tests) rising 21.4% to EUR 14.7mn in 2013, while its revenues climbed 7.5% y/y to EUR 64.9mn over the period. The other operating income shrank 14% to EUR 500,000, while capital expenditures increased 24% to EUR 16mn in 2013.

Telekom Austria also said its Macedonian subsidiary had a mobile market share of 28% at end-2013, up from 27.3% at end-2012. The mobile penetration in the country dropped to 109.2% from 113.1% over the period. The number of its subscribers inched down 0.4% y/y to 629,700 at the end of the fourthquarter.

Vip is the second biggest mobile operator in terms of market share in Macedonia behind the local arm of Deutsche Telekom - T-Mobile Macedonia but ahead of ONE, owned by Telekom Slovenije.
