BRIEF: Stock market closes higher

Feb. 27--BUCHAREST -- The quotations of the shares traded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) advanced 0.39 percent on average on Thursday, as shown by the BET-C composite index, while the BET-FI index of the financial investment companies (SIFs) went up 0.14 percent.

The BVB transaction volume amounted to 6.18 million euros.

On the BVB main ring -- Regular -- shares issued by 50 companies were traded, out of which 25 registered increases in the quotations and 17 dropped.

The most liquid issuers were the Proprietatea Fund, with 4.87 million lei worth of trades, OMV Petrom, with 1.88 million lei, and Transgaz, with 784,608 euros.

The BET index, reflecting the evolution of the ten most liquid shares listed, increased 0.02 percent.

The BET-XT extended blue-chip index of the 25 most liquid companies went up 0.05 percent and the BET-NG index of the companies in the energy and utilities sector advanced 0.41 percent.

The BET-BK index, the benchmark of the investment funds yield, was up 0.21 percent.
