Research Data from Polytechnic University Update Understanding of Fullerenes

March 4, 2014

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Life Science Weekly -- Researchers detail new data in Fullerenes. According to news originating from Bucharest, Romania, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, "Carbon nanotubes are categorized as single-walled nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multiwalled nanotubes (MWCNTs). Singlewall carbon nanotubes potential can be exploited by uploading the form of anti-neoplastic compound shell at the external tube by a covalent bond."

Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from Polytechnic University, "Docetaxel (DOX) is complex terpene produced by the plants of the genus Taxus. Their main mechanism of acting as inhibitor in cytogenetics is the disruption of the cell's microtubule function by stabilizing microtubule formation. Being essential to mitotic reproduction, drugs as docetaxel inhibit the cell division through the inactivation of the microtubule function of a cell."

According to the news editors, the research concluded: "To complete the original part of this paper, the encapsulations efficiency of docetaxel into functionalized carbon nanotubes were evaluated."
