Banking and Securities Department Participates in 'Military Saves' Week, FEB. 24-MARCH 1, 2014

HARRISBURG, Pa., Feb. 25 -- The Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities issued the following news release:

The PA Department of Banking and Securities is honoring the national celebration of "Military Saves Week" by participating in the Pennsylvania Military Finance Alliance's first "Making $ense of Finance" conference on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. The conference program is designed specifically towards the financial and investing goals of members of the military and veterans.

"Too often, the men and women who serve our country in the armed forces face difficult challenges at home as they try to build a future for themselves," says Glenn E. Moyer, PA Secretary of Banking and Securities. "Through our participation in 'Military Saves Week' and the 'Making $ense of Finance' conference, we hope to provide our military families with the tools they need to succeed in the financial marketplace."

"Military Saves Week" is a campaign that seeks to motivate, support, and encourage military families to save money, reduce debt, and build wealth. The "Making $ense of Finance" conference is free to members of the military, veterans and their spouses. The first 200 people to register will receive a $25 gift card for attending and participating in the conference.

"Making $ense of Finance" is made possible through the Pennsylvania Military Finance Alliance, a cooperative effort of the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the PA Department of Banking and Securities, the PA Office of Attorney General, Army OneSource, Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania, Liberty USO, Advantage Credit Counseling Services and the Heinz Endowments.
