Jeff Maples, UT associate vice chancellor for finance and administration, admitted he was initially skeptical.
"When I went down to check it out, I thought you'd see a slight difference. But it was brighter, clearer, more crisp. It was a very stark difference between the old lighting," Maples said.
The lights are being mounted under the catwalk, where they won't affecting the current game lights. This will allow for operational and performance testing during the basketball season, he said.
