Bulgaria starts EUR 38mn railway upgrade

Bulgaria launched on Feb 20 upgrades worth BGN 75mn (EUR 38mn) on a railway section connecting the towns of Septemvri and Pazardzhik, both located in southern Bulgaria, the transport ministry said.

The upgrades are part of a BGN 257mn project for the reconstruction of the Septemvri - Plovdiv railway section, which is co-financed by EU's operational programme transport. Upon its completion, scheduled for the end of 2015, the travel time between the two towns will drop to 28 minutes from the current 40.
