The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has assured that the Federal Government would remain resolute in the management of the nation's economy in spite of President Goodluck Jonathan's suspension of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

Okonjo-Iweala assured that the pursuit of macro-economic stability, which has become the hallmark of the incumbent administration would continue, even as she expressed optimism that the tight monetary policy which the nation's apex bank has been driving would be sustained.

The minister, who was reacting to Sanusi's suspension at a media briefing in Abuja, Thursday, said as was expected, the market reacted to the news of the suspension of Sanusi, who was a top member of the economic team. But she assured that there was no cause for alarm as the naira was expected to stabilise in no time.
