The College Goal Monday program was established in 1989 and has evolved from a one-time event offered in the state of Indiana to a national effort including 40 states and the District of Columbia and over 10,000 volunteers dedicated to assisting student and families in accessing financial aid for college. The program was created by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association with funding from Lily Endowment, Inc., with supplemental support from Lumina Foundation for Education. The program is currently operated by USA Funds.

Important Message for Students and Families:

* Finances should NOT be a barrier to attending college.

* The FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first and most important step to applying for college financial aid. It should be completed now if you plan to attend college in 2014-15.

* Use the proper website to complete the FAFSA: www.fafsa.gov - do not use other sites that charge money - the application is FREE.

* The US Department of Education offers free assistance at 1-800-4-FED-AID and www.fafsa.gov.

* www.navigatingyourfinancialfuture.org/CGS!FLORIDA/Home.aspx is the state's official College Goal website to connect students with resources to prepare for applying for college financial aid.
