TORONTO - The Canadian dollar closed at 90.10 cents U-S, down 0.14 of a cent from Wednesday's close.

The S-and-P/T-S-X composite index was up 90.64 points to 14,210.37.

Volume at 4:15 p.m. Eastern Time was 355.03 (m) million shares.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 92.67 points to 16,133.23.

The Standard-and-Poor's 500 index added 11.03 points to 1,839.78.

In the New York Mercantile Exchange, the gold futures for April closed at 1,316 dollars, 90 cents U-S per ounce, down $3.50.

The March crude contract closed at 102 dollars, 92 cents U-S per barrel, down 39 cents.
