A contractor for the Chelan County PUD doing routine maintenance on fiber-optic network equipment at the Confluence Technology Center apparently caused the Internet outage that continues to affect all county residents who received their Internet service over PUD fiber.

The outage happed at about 12:30 p.m. Crews continue to work to restore service. The PUD estimates that about 9,000 connections are affected, county wide. Look for the next update as it becomes availalbe.

Chelan County PUD crews are working to fix an apparently faulty piece of data-handling equipment that has knocked out fiber-delivered Internet service to most areas of the county.

PUD spokeswoman Kimberlee Craig says crews still don't know when service will be restored. The outage happened around the noon hour. The cause is still unknown. Look for updates as they become available.
