Release date- 18022014 - Stockholm, Sweden - Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced that TeliaSonera , as the first network operator in the Nordics, have performed a field trial using Huawei G.fast copper broadband technology, at FTTH.
The solution has been deployed in the TeliaSonera network in Helsinki, Finland with live customers and delivering real services. With this technology, TeliaSonera can provide up to 1Gbps bandwidth to customers connected by the legacy copper network, improving the customer experience of fixed network broadband services such as TV.
G.FAST technology is a faster version of DSL which can offer speeds of 1Gbps over a distance of up to 250 meters using copper - further on enhancing the capability and speed of rolling out ultra-high speed broadband connections to TeliaSonera' s customers together with continuous fiber deployments.'
TeliaSonera has a lot of focus in different TV and Entertainment services and the demand of capacity from the customers is constantly increasing together with the demand of having access to their services anywhere and anytime. The field trial, demonstrates that the G.FAST technology meets not only the requirement of current services, but also offer the bandwidth demand of future broadband and video services, such as 4KTV, which is 4 times resolution of HDTV and consumes 100Mbps bandwidth per channel.
