Feb. 20--BUCHAREST -- The completion of the text of the memorandum for the Letter of Intent with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with a view to submitting it to Romania's President for approval is one of the most urgent priorities of the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP), Prime Minister Victor Ponta said at the MFP headquarters on Thursday.
The Head of Government, also holding the position of interim Finance Minister, said the ministry would run properly until a new minister is appointed, adding that he delegated the right of signature to Secretary of State Dan Manolescu.
Premier Victor Ponta pointed out that the priorities of MFP also include a number of norm-setting documents drawn up by former Minister Daniel Chitoiu, which are to be approved during the Government meeting, giving the example of streamlining procedures on the controls for the VAT reimbursement.
Ponta also said that collection at the National Tax Administration Agency was on the rise in January and called for the continuation of this positive trend.
