Feb. 20--BUCHAREST -- Trade on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) amounted to nearly 24 million euros on Thursday, as significant exceptional deals involved shares of the financial investment companies (SIFs) SIF Muntenia and SIF Moldova, and of the Proprietatea Fund.
All the market indexes closed lower, and quotes of shares listed on BVB dropped 21 percent on average, as tracked by the BET-C composite index; the BET-FI index, which reflects the evolution of the five SIFs, had the steepest decline, 0.94 percent.
In the Regular category (not including the special deals), the most liquid issuers were Proprietatea Fund with 3.71 million lei, and Romgaz with 1.7 million lei.
The BET index of the top ten liquid issuers lost 0.16 percent; the BET-XT extended blue-chip index of the top 25 liquid companies slumped 0.35 percent, while the BET-NG index of the companies in the energy industry and public utilities inched down 0.05 percent. The BET-BK return benchmark index for stock investment funds took a 0.75 percent dive.
