Agricultural futures

White maize for delivery in July, the most active contract, had dropped 1.7 percent to R2 197 a ton by the midday close on the SA Futures Exchange. The yellow variety for delivery in the same month lost 1.9 percent to R2 230 a ton.

"There is going to be good rains inů Free State and Mpumalanga," trader Benjamin Swanepoel said. The crop for July was still growing so the market was watching the weather, he said. - Bloomberg
