Luxoft, a provider of software development services and IT solutions to a global client base, announced the successful integration of its next-generation visualization framework Horizon into the navigation and information platform for ERA-GLONASS. According to a release, Luxoft has successfully completed the task set by Non-Commercial Partnership GLONASS (NP GLONASS), the system's only operator, to provide multiple views of call processing data for subsequent analysis of ERA-GLONASS performance.
The company reported that Horizon is a data visualisation system initially designed by Luxoft for financial applications. Its integration in the ERA-GLONASS platform is the first deployment of the system outside of Luxoft's financial product line, proving the flexibility of this product and the potential for its application in the data visualisation segment. Horizon differentiators are based on its functionality and UX (user experience) design. One of the benefits offered by the system is the more efficient decision- making process based on graphical presentation of different data arrays. It collects data from a number of sources to present the final result in an optimised, user- and visually-friendly oriented format that helps quickly absorb crucial information. This touch- based system ensures effective decision-making, delivering crucial information timely to those who are in the office or "on the go", irrespective of geographic location.
"Our system enables real-time acquisition of visualised data about ERA-GLONASS performance on different platforms and devices. Engineers and employees of the ERA-GLONASS operator and other users can track real-time data 24/7, including automatic and manual tracking of emergency calls and responses of the police, ambulance and other emergency services. Horizon allows for benchmarking across different Russian regions, thus making it possible to assess emergency trends, accident rates, distribution of false alarms, etc. The collected data facilitates the decision-making process and improving ERA-GLONASS' performance in a particular region. Horizon helps not only to analyse ERA-GLONASS call processing with increased visibility and efficiency, but also visualise technical problems with access to external data users, since all activities are displayed on mobile devices and on computers in the emergency response centre. With these capabilities in place, this data visualisation system provides on-going status updates for all calls processed within the ERA-GLONASS system," says
Additionally, with its usability and work flow coordination, Horizon is a tool that does not require time-consuming personnel training. Full-scale HTML5 adaptation gives Horizon a uniform interface across all devices and platforms, including mobile applications.
"We are proud that in addition to its successful track record in the financial industry as a risk management and analysis tool, our advanced data visualisation product is now used in ERA-GLONASS - a project that is a major technological milestone for
The designer of ERA-GLONASS is NP GLONASS, a federal navigation network operator. The purpose of ERA-GLONASS is to reduce the delay before the information on the time and place of a road traffic accident or incident is delivered to emergency response services, which will save lives and health of the driver and passengers of the vehicle.
