BRIEF: Stock market closes up 0.44 percent

Feb. 17--BUCHAREST -- The shares listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) were up 0.44 percent on Monday, in an evolution tracked by the BET-C composite index, while the BET-FI index, which reflects the evolution of the shares of the five financial investment companies (SIFs) inched down 0.01 percent.

Trade on the BVB main market amounted to roughly 7.48 million euros; shares issued by 48 companies were traded, 23 of which scored gains and 21 slumped.

The top liquid issuers were Proprietatea Fund with 3.33 million lei, SIF1 Banat Oltenia -- 2.33 million lei, and OMV Petrom -- 1.45 million lei.

The BET index that reflects the evolution of the ten most liquid listed issuers advanced 0.67 percent; the extended blue-chip index of the top 25 liquid companies -- the BET-XT -- gained 0.56 percent, and the sectoral energy and related utilities index BET-NG also went up 0.56 percent.

The BET-BK return benchmark index for stock investment funds closed 0.19 percent higher.
