Feb. 14--BUCHAREST -- Hannes Swoboda, president of the S&D Group (The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the EP) and member of the European Parliament, will pay an official visit to Romania on Feb. 17. On this occasion, he will visit the 'Horia Hulubei' National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH) and the Magurele research platform (near Bucharest) hosting the widest pan-European research laser project, Extreme Light Infrastructure -- Nuclear Physics (ELI -- NP).
'As of 11.10 a.m., Hannes Swoboda will be delivering a press conference at the headquarters of the Horia Hulubei National Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering. Attending the event will be Romanian MEP Corina Cretu, Minister of National Education Remus Pricopie, Minister-delegate for Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Development Mihnea Costoiu and Nicolae Victor Zamfir, IFN-HH managing director and director of the ELI-NP project,' the Ministry of National Education reports in a release sent to AGERPRES.
Swoboda's agenda also includes a visit to the Polytechnics University of Bucharest, where he will visit the research platform of micro and nanomaterials from UPB. The S&D leader will meet with Ecaterina Andronescu, president of UPB Senate and of the Romanian Senate Education Commission, UPB Rector George Darie, State Secretary for Scientific Research and Technological Development Tudor Prisecaru and State Secretary for Higher Education Gigel Paraschiv.
