Interactive Launch Competition Comes to the Cable Show 2014

February 13, 2014

WASHINGTON, Feb. 13 -- The National Cable and Telecommunications Association issued the following news release:

Student teams from leading U.S. business schools will present business and marketing solutions to support the go-to-market deployment of advanced television and online video technologies during the "Interactive Launch Competition" scheduled for April 28, 2014, at The Cable Show 2014 in Los Angeles.

The 63rd annual Cable Show, sponsored by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), is scheduled for April 28 to May 1, 2014, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Sponsored by Interactive TV Works, the Interactive Launch Competition - a "launch-a-thon" of sorts - will bring together leading executives, top Master of Business Administration (MBA) students, and participating mentor companies, to foster business and marketing strategies that encourage the deployment of video and broadband innovations.

This will be the first appearance for this competition at The Cable Show and its first West Coast iteration. Three similar competitions have been staged on the East Coast.

During the competition in Los Angeles, a panel of industry experts will review business solutions developed by the MBA student teams in collaboration with mentor companies. The judges will award cash prizes to the top three MBA Student Teams to support their education. The audience will vote to select an Audience Choice Award winner.

"The Interactive Launch Competition promotes fresh thinking and innovative approaches to the launch and deployment of emerging television technologies and online video applications for consumers," said Craig Leddy, founder of the competition program, and President, Interactive TV Works. "The energy of the student teams and their penchant for new ideas should make our event a highlight of The Cable Show 2014."

"The Cable Show in Los Angeles is the perfect place to stage this competition," added Barbara York, Senior Vice President, Industry Affairs, NCTA. "By engaging young adults in the process of innovation, and focusing on some of the amazing new broadband and cable services about to come to market, we expect some vibrant ideas to emerge, true to the tagline of our 2014 Show, 'Inspiration Everywhere!'"

Presentations and judging of The Interactive Launch Competition is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 28 in the Los Angeles Convention Center. A reception will immediately follow this session. Participating teams, mentor companies, and sponsors will be announced shortly, and opportunities to participate still remain.
