MTN Ghana, the leader in Ghana's telecom services industry has assured its subscribers that the company would continue to pursue and invest in the latest telecom technologies that enrich mobile telephony experience in the country.

This, the telecom firm believes would lead it to the promised land of the new digital world.

The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, Rahul De, made this known at the launch of MTN/Huawei Ascend Y220 mobile handset in Accra.

He added: "In our efforts to ensure that this become a reality in real time, MTN is focused on investing in world class technologies, aimed at bringing relevant telecom services to our subscribers and brighten their lives.

That is why we have invested over $90 million in the West Africa Cable System (WACS) submarine cable to provide MTN subscribers in Ghana and across Africa such needed bandwidth".

According to him, last year alone, MTN Ghana spent $105 million on additional network upgrades and expansions. We are making similar investments in 2014 to deliver excellent network services, Mr De said.

Mr. De noted: "As the leading mobile data provider with 47.37% of the data market in the country.MTN continues to lead the way by meeting customers' needs with the right services, data offers and quality devices.

Many factors impact cell phone reception (for both voice and data) and research has shown that the make and model of a phone matters. This is why it is important that we continue to push for quality and affordable handsets".

The CMO of MTN Ghana was, therefore, pleased with the MTN-Huawei partnership, which will empower mobile phone users to do more a little investment.

Mr. De stated: "MTN is, therefore, excited to partner Huawei to make available mobile phones that will enable people with busy lifestyles such as yourselves to work away from your office when you are on the move".

The Managing Director of Huawei Ghana, Russell Xu was proud to say that the MTN-Huawei partnership has yielded positive results with the introduction of the Huawei Y220 and several products.

Being the leader in global technologies, Huawei recorded a turnover of $39 billion last year so the company has the financial muscle to undertake any kind of product innovation and investment, he noted.

Touching on the features of the newly launched mobile phone, the Coordinator of Innovations and Product Services at MTN Ghana, Ms Boadiwaa Ofori-Amoateng said the Huawei Y220 phone comes with 3.5 inch big screen, 200 megabits, 21 Mbps, 65 minutes of voice calls each month, strong battery, and operating on Android system.

She, therefore, appealed to Ghanaians to let the newly launched Smartphone be part of their Valentine/Chocolate Day gift package to their relatives and friends.
